DEEP REPORTS

Brian got the Valor award for going swimming in the swamp in the middle of the night. We got monsooned on Friday night, but had a great time despite the initial weather. All of the players were stand up and the reffing was solid.

I was kind of hit and miss running with RK this event. After the initial push which put RK as the pointy end of the sword in an open field attack (definately not our strong point) I stuck primarily with all of the missions. Since Keith wasn't with us I decided to take the roll of medic and have my share of new tattoos to prove I was doing my job. During the daylight hours of Saturday and Sunday I think I was able to run with all buy three or four missions.
Unfortunately in that capacity I ended up seperated from RK for the majority of the time while Brian, Rich, Grendel and the guys were out capping Ben T. and Dale Ford. Oh well, anything for points.
When the dinner break arrived Saturday I decided to see how the other half lives and took the night off for a change. It may have had something to do with me being soaked to the bone and my tent having a pond inside it from the Friday night monsoon.
I would also like to note that this was not only CJ's first scenario, but also his first time to ever play paintball. He did a great job and seemed to have a great time. We all told him that after scenario ball it was all downhill. He started with the best part of the sport. Hopefully we will see more of him in the future.

*XF (Xtreme Fanatics) won MVT for the French*

rich comments : "Deep, you did an outstanding job as medic and lead communication back to the General. I can recall one good funny situation between Deep and I on the field. We were both trying to slow the onslaught of English through the dog leg when I got hit. I called for a medic and Deep ran up to me and healed me on the spot. About 2 minutes later, I called for a medic and as he was headed torwards me, he was blasted all over his left side. Well, I no longer needed a medic! Off the field we went."

GRENDEL
REPORTS

Present for SCRK - Rich, Jami, Brian and Yolonda O., Jim F., Jeff B., C.J. (Jeffs Friend) and ME.

We were put on the French Team with our Captain (TB) being the publisher of Scenario Paintball news. Some of the teams we ran with were:
1) Wild Cardz
2) Hardballers
3) Doom Troopers

Mr. Brian Odgers was awarded the Sportsmanship award for opitimising what a scenario paintballer is (We think it is because he went face first into the swamp in the middle of the night )

During both Saturday and Sunday play we [RK] were all about getting missions run. I have know idea how many we accomplished but it was a bunch.

When the horn blew for Sat's start our General attempted to use us to hold the middle of the field below the "Nam" with Harballers on the right at the dog leg and Wild Cardz to our left in and above the "Nam". We did our job well but attrition won out. Thankfully the Wild Cardz extended to their right and hooked up with some stragglers and Hardballers to fill the gap. At this point when RK started coming back onto the field our general started using us for what we do best, RUN MISSIONS.

We found bodies, shields and rings; held territory, clomped around with coconuts, said lines from the movie and tried to remember movie trivia. We did a great job (mainly Brian and Deep) of giving intel to our general and staying in touch.

Rich barrel tagged Ben T. (XO for the English) in the Swamp; Brian O. put a clear pink SPLAT in the middle of the English Generals Back; I snuck into the English's base listened in on their missions for 1/2 hr then barrel tagged 4 security and eliminated both the General and XO in their command bunker.

While working with Rich, Jeff and C.J. up the Managed woods next to the dog leg mid afternoon Sat.

I hunkered down behind some barrels and drainage pipe in front of our lines. Some Hard Ballers and Doom Troopers were maybe 10 yards behind me holding off the approahing English. The English had no idea that I was there and when they engaged the Hardballers and Doom Troopers they would have to expose their sides and heads to me. According to the judge who was there (laughingly I might add) told me that I'd eliminated 6 out of the nine english involved in the assault. I always waited to take my shots when my guys returned fire to mask the fact the were getting hit by me.

We quickly moved forward to the "Castle" near the English's insertion point where I took a shot at an English guys head nearily missing. He ducked then came back up blind firing, so I quickly moved in and to the side rapid pumping the trusty Sniper II landing two shots to the cranium. Said player came out complaining to the Judge bird-dogging me that I was over shooting. The Judge's Response was, with dripping sarcasm, "yea right with that auto cocking pump, get off the field"

At this point I seperated since we [the French] were assaulting the English base. I decided to try getting behind their base (our old clap base) through the swamp. As I slided past their insertion point, I saw and offered Ben T. and escort to his base but for some reason he turned me down. I cut across the swamp at the tape line and was nearing the other shore when I heard some English Scum approaching from the front. That Bastard Ben must have told them I was coming. I crouched down and did my best to imitate a stump and it must have worked since they walked past me by no more than 10-15 ft. I decided I should follow them to ensure they did not back door our force assaulting their base. I trailed them back across the swamp and up to a smallish clearing off their insertion road. I was not in position yet to take them on when one of the casually turned and looked in my direction. Since I did not know for sure if he saw me I decide to attack any way. I missed my first shot but got the second guy with my next. At this point the 4 other friends opened up in my direction and caught me. Unknown to me Rich was walkin off the field there and saw it happen. Not knowing it was me Rich told my back doored opponents "you need to go shake that guys hand". They all came over and we had a good laugh and traded a couple of tales. (( Rich comments on this: This was a riot. You could just tell these kids were all speedballers with absolutely "0" scenario experience. A couple of them were so badly that I thought to myself "If I was taken out next to my insertion point, I would definitely shake the opponents hand" so I told all of them they should go see who that was and shake his/her hand. Come to find out, it was Grendel!))

Well these were some of my better exploits.

STICKY REPORTS
I thought I did well this weekend even though I seemed to be a magnet for that stray long ball at times. Couple of my memorable outings:

Brian and I along with several hardballers and wildcards worked our way up the far south line behind the Redneck base and at the tip there was this beautiful thick bush and right behind the bush there was the boundry line so it was basically inpentaturable from the backside. The only way for the English to get to my right and attack the base was to walk past this nice little "hole" I dug out of the bush. Only problem was ole painless was looking through that hole. What really makes this position even better was the fact I had radio contact with Brian who had a better vantage point of when the enemy was coming. He radio'd me and he counted the eliminations out until our new member Jeff rushed the bunker and took the other 4 English out with a pump. WOW that was something to see!

Next, Jim and I were headed right up next to the dog leg and to my right there was an English guy running to a bunker. Jim squeezed off a shot and hit the guy in the pack. He did not call himself out so I hit him in the chest. He called back to the Medic and as the Medic was sliding in the bunker I pasted a nice pink splat on his chest which eliminated the 1st player and the medic.

As Grendel had mentioned, him, Jeff and I were headed up the short pines near bubba's truck and there were 4 English (including Ben) laying down in the bush. Grendel and Jeff kept Ben's attention and I came up from the backside. It was classic and I knew it was him as soon as it was over.

Next, Grendel, Jim and I were headed up to the dog leg and I looked right and saw this guy looking at a map. It sparked my curiousity and I went to investigate. As soon as I saw his red arm band, he saw me and started running. I was able to cap a nice one in his backside as he was running away.

I would also like to mention that Brian put a nice splat on Dale Ford this weekend! Congrats!

Protocol Reports
In all fairness to the English guys I took out I wasn't using a pump this go round. Also for those crossing the swamp make sure that sand bar is not just foam on top of the water. I made that mistake and was waist deep.
Final Score

The French (out side) won, XF awarded MVT for French. Grendel reports somewhere less than 700 showed to play.

Jim Foster and Jeff Blattel were voted in for Full Membership at the event.
