Here's the whole story. The first few games, Grendel, Keith and
I were not doing well so we changed our strategy a bit which gave
us an immediate win. After that win we had another game and I was
on the left beer can, Keith in the middle and Grendel on the right
taco.
All I remember is taking the guy out on my left, Keith getting
taken out with the flag and me and the other teams last guy
going back and forth within ten feet of each other of which he made
the fatal mistake of snap shooting in the same place twice. Anyway
after I took him out, I went to keith who was standing in the middle
of the field with the flag (dead) and grabbed the flag. With all
the adrenaline of the fire fight and Grendel standing (dead) at
the enemys base, I somehow lost my sense of direction and
took the flag to the enemys base thereby handing the other
team points for the game and not our team.
Basically to sum it up: Remember the pro football guy who recovered
a fumble and returned it to the wrong end zone in front of 70K people?
Well, I had this direction problem in front of all the spectators
at this event.
I'm pretty sure this eliminated us from the final so needless to
say I was quite embarrassed and did my best to maintain a smile
and try not to be so embarrassed. Of course, my fellow teammates
did what I would have done so they commenced too rubbing salt in
my wounds.
Hence the new nickname WrongWay.
Now, on a more serious note. This event was a BLAST! I would like
to thank DeepFreeze and Brian for planning and coordinating the
event, the staff, and field owners for putting it on and finally,
one heck of an outstanding REFFING crew.
Brian Odgers (SCBrian) really took over the reins for this event
and everything was very organized and ran very smooth. Thanks Brian!
Also thanks to Yolanda for watching the chrono all day.
A couple notables on the day. I watched Bluemidget throw paint
by hand (marker broke on field) to try and keep the opponents attention
to permit his other 2 teammates to advance and he also ran for the
flag but was eliminated just prior to gaining those points. I like
to see a player try and help the team in other ways when they are
suddenly handicapped. Good job Chris.
Team Brass Eagles. I was highly impressed with this team for the
simple fact that they were young ballers who were not intimidated
by anyone no matter the size. These ballers did not simply stand
they're ground, they advanced through the field in every game that
I photoed. Very Nice!
Next, the sportsmanship was unbelievable as you will note in the
pics I will be putting online here in the near future. I think I
really got some awesome shots so stay tuned...

Well, I'm sure you will here all about me hanging the flag on the
wrong side of the field but I would like to comment on Roadkill
(Yellow) (Grendel, Keith and me) taking out the HAS-BEANS on the
speedball field in front of all the spectators...
