2004 May 1 - Waynes World - from the old school, Thumper, Grendel, Wayne, Rich, Squeeks and Skeeter then around 12 more associates from PBC. MTV again. Partnered with "Mark" What Happened by Jami : 2004 May 1-2 Waynes World - from the old school, Thumper, Grendel, Wayne, Rich, Skeeter, and Jami then around 12 more misc. On Friday night Jami (DeepFreeze) and Wayne (Sniper One) were inducted as Roadkill members. Wayne definitely deserved the long distance award, as Friday night at midnight he had to drive home and then returned in time to join up with us on the field at one in the afternoon. Not only did he manage to stay awake, but he put on an outstanding display of night tactics around midnight. The game was loosely based on a downed German submarine in World War II that had an enigma machine which was captured by the Allies. We were defending the south base. The tanks were not evenly distributed for this event, as our side had one small tank and the other side had three tanks. I will say that our little tank crew that could gave it their best. They were constantly on the attack, but unfortunately they were outgunned and outmatched. We split up at the onset of the game with the largest group of RK heading up the west road to stop the other side from advancing on our base, while the remainder started up the middle of the field to advance on their base. The entire scenario it seemed we were on our heels, although we were completing missions the other team spent a good deal of time attacking and destroying our base. At one point Grendel, DeepFreeze, Thumper and a couple of other friends decided to run a helicopter insertion on the opposition's base. Unfortunately we had conflicting information from the refs and when we attempted to drop one member of our assault the base ref called us all active. We did our best to take out the approximately 20 players that were defending the base, but we ended up with nothing but some bruises to show for it, as they had a medic in the base that healed all of the players we managed to eliminate. At one point during night play Wayne managed to infiltrate the opposition while making his way through the village. He would walk up behind an opposing player, tap him on the shoulder, then tell him to remain quiet and that he was out. He managed to tag about 25 players in this manner without firing a shot, or being sniffed out by the opposition. He without a doubt earned his nickname "Sniper One." During the entire scenario Brian was doing a great job in his role as a spy. He was all over the field day and night completing missions and being a constant nuisance to the opposing team. He ended up being a critical player for our side. At the award ceremony we were announced as "Most Valuable Team" which was not a surprise, as we were definitely the most active team on our side, not to mention the role that Brian was playing as a spy. We were certain that we would come out on the losing end of the scenario, but after all the points were tallied it was announced that the opposing team's spies did not turn in any mission cards, and our side ended up being the victors by less than 100 points. It just goes to show that in scenarios the missions are more important than running and gunning. |
